MortgageKeeper Adds Military Resources to List of Categories MortgageKeeper Referral Services, based in Downers Grove, Illinois, connects financially distressed individuals to reputable community services for help, and it's expanding its scope of assistance. MortgageKeeper has VISIT US ONLINE @ DSNEWS.COM added military resources to its list of service categories. Rochelle Nawrocki Gorey, president of MortgageKeeper Referral Services, says since adding the military option to its application, the company has seen strong demand for it, in line with the number of veterans in this country. But, Gorey notes, veterans and others struggling in today's economy find MortgageKeeper's 20 additional categories helpful as well. "We are seeing high numbers of homeowners—military and civilian—looking for help to pay utilities, find employment resources and prescription drug assistance, and searching for information on state Hardest Hit Funds," Gorey said. The company says it is seeing an increase in activity across the board. As of midNovember, the average for referrals in 2012 was 68,200 per month. However in October, MortgageKeeper says referrals rose 31 percent to 99,000. The increased usage of the service is due to the growing list of service categories and the release of a new version of its web-based MKDesktop application, the company explained. Subscribers to the service include Ocwen Loan Servicing, First Guaranty Mortgage, the Homeownership Preservation Foundation, and Family Credit Management. National Delinquency Rate Improves in Q3 but Remains High The national mortgage delinquency rate fell further in Q 3 2012 to 5.41 percent, Chicago-based TransUnion reported. The rate is down from 5.49 percent in Q2 2012 and 5.88 percent in Q 3 2011, according to the credit bureau. TransUnion measures the delinquency rate as borrowers who are past due on their mortgage payments by 60 or more days. When examining improvements among metropolitan areas, however, TransUnion found a smaller share of metros experienced a drop in their rates compared to previous quarters. In the third quarter of last year, 49 percent of metro areas improved their delinquency rate compared to 76 percent in Q2 2012 and 73 percent in Q1 2012. Out of the 50 states, 22 saw their delinquency rates improve quarter-over-quarter, while 42 states showed improvements from in 2011.
