Prosperity Fund (NPF) and the remaining $500,000 will be used for the Community Asset Preservation Corporation (CAPC) for property acquisition. "These strategies will also serve as important models of effective tools for the revitalization of underserved communities suffering from abandoned and vacant properties," NJCC stated in a release. In mid-November 2012, NJCC also announced it became a member of the Housing Partnership Network, a peer network of accomplished affordable housing nonprofits. HUD Helps Sandy Survivors Find Alternative Housing As of last month, families still reeling in the wake of Hurricane Sandy are finding increased assistance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The agency is giving public housing agencies more flexibility in calculating rent payments in FEMA-declared disaster areas. This is big news for low-income families having a hard time finding alternative housing in the aftermath of the storm. HUD is giving the OK for local housing agencies to increase a payment standard up to 120 percent of the published "fair market," which will give low-income families more options in this tight rental market. "We understand that in the wake of a disaster like Sandy, available rental housing becomes increasingly difficult to find, especially for lower-income families," said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, who President Obama recently appointed to oversee longterm disaster redevelopment in the disaster region in a statement. "Simply by giving local housing authorities greater flexibility in calculating rental assistance to these families can make all the difference in finding a suitable home or not. This is just one more example of how the Obama Administration is cutting red tape to make our programs work better following a disaster." Families would continue to pay their required portion of the rent, typically 30 percent of adjusted monthly income, but because of the increase in the maximum subsidy available, the measure would allow displaced families to afford housing they would not normally be able to under the regular payment standard, thereby increasing the available supply of housing that these families could afford, according to the statement. 146 New Mexico rank: 15 90+ Day Delinquency Rate Foreclosure Rate october 2012 2.11% Unemployment Rate 3.66% 6.3% year ago 1.84% 3.94% 7.2% percent point change 14.8% -7.2% -12.5% Top County TorraNCe CouNTy 90+ Day Delinquency Rate Foreclosure Rate october 2012 2.81% 7.18% year ago 2.80% 5.73% percent point change 0.4% 25.3% Top Core-Based Statistical area "Our members are on board with our decision and excited to begin using LPS' Paragon MLS system," said SFAR CEO Paco Arguello.
