Carrington Charitable Foundation Raises Over $1.8M for Wounded Veterans
e Carrington Charitable Foundation held its ninth annual
Golf Classic, benefiting CCF's Signature Programs that support
post-9/11 combat wounded American Veterans on October 14, 2019,
at e Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, California. e
event raised more than $1.8 million for its initiatives that enable
Mobility, Stability, Purpose, and Prosperity for U.S. servicemen
and women returning from post-9/11 battlefields. CCF is the
nonprofit organization of e Carrington Companies. More than
260 golfers participated, and the event culminated in a dinner and
auction attended by more than 500 people—the largest attendance
in the event's nine-year history.
"It is a tremendous honor for us to organize this event each year,
and we are grateful that so many donors, partners, friends, and
families have joined us in this worthy cause," said Rosemary Rose,
Chairman, Carrington Charitable Foundation. "It is a privilege
to continue to support and expand the CCF programs that help
the Veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much while
protecting our freedom."
U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills and his family were
among the honored Veterans at this year's tournament. On April 10,
2012, Staff Sergeant Mills was critically injured on his third tour of
duty in Afghanistan by an IED while on patrol, losing portions of
both legs and both arms. He is one of only five quadruple amputees
from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive his injuries. He
shared the story of his recovery and how CCF was able to assist
with attendees during an evening reception.
"Carrington Charitable Foundation has been like a family to
me, my wife, Kelsey, and our two children," he said. "Not only have
they supported our nonprofit's mission, they gave us stability by
providing a home so we can concentrate on pushing forward. When
we first heard about CCF and the possibility of having a home
through Carrington House, it almost didn't seem real—until the
day my family and I moved into our fully adaptive home. e CCF
team and its donors and supporters are fantastic, and Kelsey and I
will do whatever we can to let people know that CCF is doing great
things with everything they do."
