Curry, who currently leads the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), now has additional responsibilities as chairman of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC). Curry's appointment makes him the 21st FFIEC chairman and marks the fifth time the OCC has held the top position. He will lead the council for a two-year term. Former Treasury Secretary Joins LPS as Board Member A former Treasury secretary is joining Lender Processing Services' (LPS) board of directors, the company announced. John Snow, Ph.D., was appointed to serve on the risk and compliance committee of the board of directors. Snow served as secretary of the Treasury under President George W. Bush from February 2003 to June 2006 and has worked as president of JWS Associates, LLC, since then. Stewart Lender Services Welcomes New SVP Stewart Lender Services announced the appointment of Jane Woll as SVP and strategic relationship manager. Previously, Woll spent six-and-a-half years at Martin, Leigh, Laws & Fritzlen, P.C., as director of client relations and business development. In her new role, she will develop strategic relationships with company clients and members of the industry's legal and servicing communities. Martin, Leigh, Laws & Fritzlen Announces Promotion Martin, Leigh, Laws & Fritzlen, P.C., promoted Lindsey McArthur to director of client relations and business development following the departure of Jane Woll. McArthur was previously director of the firm's St. Louis operations. In her new role, she is tasked with leading the firm's nationwide client relations and business development efforts, as well as the public relations program. Industry Veteran Assumes Position on Fay Servicing's Executive Team Fay Servicing, a special servicer based in Chicago, recently welcomed industry veteran Loren Morris, Esq. Morris has more than 25 years' experience in financial services, mortgage banking, servicing, and secondary marketing and will serve in three roles as general counsel, chief compliance officer, and EVP. He is responsible for leading corporate, strategic, and tactical initiatives. HSKP Announces New Hire and Recognition of Two Attorneys The law firm of Hutchens, Senter, Kellam, & Pettit, P.A. (HSKP), hired one new associate and announced recognition for two of its attorneys. The Mortgage Bankers Association of Fayetteville, North Carolina, honored the firm's real estate attorney Susan Benoit with the Past President's Award. Benoit has been a member of the local MBA chapter since 2007. She currently serves on the board of directors. In addition, HSKP attorney Maggie Bennington was appointed to the North Carolina Bar Association Worker's Compensation Section Council. The three-year term starts July 1. During the first year of her term, Bennington will serve on the continuing legal education committee and contribute an article to the North Carolina Bar Association's publication, the Course and Scope. Bennington earned her law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. The firm also announced the hiring of Claire Collins as an associate. Her areas of practice are civil litigation, creditors' rights, and foreclosure. Collins is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She earned her J.D. from the Charlotte School of Law in 2012 and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar. AmeriBid Promotes Marketing Chief to VP Position Oklahoma-based AmeriBid LLC announced the promotion of chief marketing officer John Pellow to VP. Pellow previously served as director of marketing for a real estate auction and brokerage services firm. He has also held high-level positions with a major wireless communications company and national retail sporting goods chain. Quality Claims Names New VP of Business Development Quality Claims Management Corporation, a provider of customized insurance recovery solutions, selected Deborah Martin-Dominick to assume the role of VP of business development. Martin-Dominick will work with current VP Anne Schupack to acquire new clients and expand service offerings for the firm. Martin-Dominick holds more than 20 years' experience. CONTINUED ON PAGE 36 VISIT US ONLINE @ DSNEWS.COM CASE-SHILLER INDICES POST BIGGEST GAINS SINCE 2006 By Mark Lieberman, Chief Economist for the Five Star Institute Home prices recorded their strongest year-over-year gain in almost seven years in January, according to the Case-Shiller Home Price Indices released in late March. Home prices rose annually in all 20 of the cities covered in the Case-Shiller analysis. Month-over-month, the 10city composite reading improved 0.2 percent in January, while the 20-city composite was up 0.1 percent. Year-over-year, the 10city index was up 7.3 percent, and the 20-city rose 8.1 percent. Economists had forecast the 20-city composite would see a 0.1 percent month-over-month gain and 8.2 percent year-over-year. Prices rose in nine cities between December and January while falling in eight. Prices were unchanged in the remaining three. December data were revised showing prices rose month-over-month in 10 cities compared with nine in the original report. The 10-city composite rose to 158.72, its highest level since October 2010, while the 20-city composite assessment improved to 146.14, its highest level since September 2010. The report showed a steady improvement in prices in the West. Prices have increased in Phoenix for 16 straight months, in Los Angeles and San Francisco for 11 straight months, in Denver for 11 of the last 12 months, and in Las Vegas for 10 straight months. By contrast, prices in cities in other regions have been more erratic—down for the last five months in Washington, D.C. and Cleveland after improving for six straight months, down in CONTINUED ON PAGE 36 35
