On September 25, Dr. Shawn Bucholtz departed HUD's American Housing Survey (AHS) to become Chief Data Officer at the Federal Housing Finance Agency. The change marked the end of a decade-long stint for Bu- choltz at the AHS. In a statement, Bucholtz said, "It has been my honor to oversee the AHS for the past decade. Throughout this time, we conducted five AHS's, and I am most proud of the various accomplishments to improve the AHS user ex- perience, including the AHS Table Creator, the AHS web-based Codebook, the 20+ AHS Help Guides, and the 15+ AHS topical modules." Bucholtz served as Director of the Housing and Demographic Analysis Division at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Devel- opment Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R). He oversaw HUD's housing market surveys program, including the Amer- ican Housing Survey and the Rental Housing Finance Survey. He previously served as Branch Chief for Planning and Analysis at the Farm Service Agency and as an economist and geographer at the Economics Research Service, both in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He has a B.S. degree in public resource manage- ment from Michigan State University, an M.S. degree in agricultural and resource economics from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in computational social science from George Mason University.
