The Big Finish

THE
CITIES
WHERE
CREDIT
SCORES
ARE
HIGHEST
Credit health is key when it comes to achieving
homeownership, and while it isn't the only
indicator, a credit score is an effective barometer
used widely by creditors and lenders to weigh
an applicant's financial risk. Researchers at
WalletHub studied more than 2,500 American
cities and ranked them according to credit score.
Adam McCann, a financial writer for
WalletHub adds the caveat that credit scores aren't
solely a reflection of responsibility.
"It's possible to have your credit score drop due
to financial hardship that's out of your control,"
McCann wrote. "Luckily, research shows that
the government stimulus in response to the
COVID-19 pandemic actually helped increase
the average credit score in 2020, in part due to
enabling record-high debt paydowns."
Here's how the cities with the top credit scores
break down.
