I N D U S T R Y G R O U P S NATIONAL HOUSING CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES POLICY AND RESEARCH DIRECTOR e National Housing Conference (NHC), the nation's oldest and broadest housing coalition, announced the hiring of Luke Villalobos as its new Policy and Research Director. Prior to joining NHC, Villalobos worked as a legislative advocate for land use and finance at Housing California, working directly with developers, service providers, tenant organizations, and legislative staff to spur the production and preservation of affordable housing statewide. Previously, Villalobos worked closely with developers to address local barriers to production, overseeing the Love Your Neighbor Initiative in the Office of the Mayor in the City of Riverside. Villalobos was also part of a team that created a program to build tiny homes for the homeless on faith-based land. "NHC is excited to welcome Luke to help lead our national policy priorities," NHC President and CEO David M. Dworkin said. "His experience in policy development and advocacy will be invaluable as we work with our members to shape sound federal housing policies for the 21st century." Villalobos said he began working in the affordable housing industry after seeing firsthand the impact of housing instability on students while working as a teacher in Washington, D.C.
