Benson recently served as President of Fannie Mae, a provider of mortgage credit in the U.S. with more than $4 trillion in assets, from August 2018 until his retirement in May 2024. As President, Benson oversaw each of Fannie Mae's business units, single-family residential and multifamily, as well as several cor- porate functions, including Finance, IT, Operations, Strategy, Human Resources and Communications. During his time at Fannie Mae, Benson played a critical leadership role in modernizing the com- pany's business model and leading it to record levels of profitability.
