First American Title Names President to Lead Mortgage Services Division First American Title Insurance Company has hired Kevin Wall as president of its First American Mortgage Services division. Wall has more than two decades' experience in the mortgage and settlement industries. Most recently, he was EVP at Solutionstar, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nationstar, and SVP of business and information services at CoreLogic. Default Servicing Specialist Joins Wingspan for VP Role Wingspan Portfolio Advisors brought on mortgage veteran Meredith McCrory as VP of strategic alliances. In her newly created position, McCrory represents Wingspan and its affiliated companies to prospective clients and partners in the United States. McCrory has more than 17 years' experience under her belt. She joins Wingspan from On Default. Carrington Selects SVP of Wholesale Lending and EVP of Communications The wholesale lending division of Carrington Mortgage Services named Rey Maninang to lead its wholesale channel as SVP and national sales director. His new role requires him to oversee Carrington's wholesale production sales team and provide strategic direction. Most recently, Maninang worked as SVP and national head of sales for PMAC Lending Services' wholesale and retail channels. Christopher Whalen has been chosen to head communications for Carrington Holding Company. As EVP, Whalen will take responsibility for media relations and communications for the group. He will also continue to lead industry research and support Carrington's corporate finance activities. Whalen is an investment banker and author with more than 30 years' experience working in Washington, London, and on Wall Street. Allstate Appraisal Appoints National Chief Residential Appraiser Allstate Appraisal announced the hiring of a new national chief residential appraiser, Scott Sparks, to oversee business development, client relationship management, and the company's residential quality control division. Along with being a Certified Residential Appraiser in Kentucky and Ohio, Sparks has been involved in many aspects of the appraisal industry for the last 25 years. Gerner & Kearns Hires New Associate for Default Practice Group Gerner & Kearns Co. announced Matthew Taulbee joined as associate attorney for the firm's default practice group. He will work out of the Ft. Wright, Kentucky, office. Taulbee brings 10-plus years' experience to the firm, with a focus on foreclosure, eviction, real estate title and closing, and creditors' rights litigation. He is licensed in Ohio and Kentucky. DocMagic Adds Investor Compliance Specialist and Tech Expert to Its Team DocMagic, Inc., named Lisa Rose as its newest investor compliance specialist. With more than 25 years' experience, Rose's background includes investor research, ensuring accurate information for mortgage programs, maintaining positive investor relationships, and creating and maintaining matrices for more than 150 investors. She was formerly a compliance specialist at DocuTech and a mortgage release specialist with Greenpoint Credit. Brian Yoder was hired by DocMagic as director of software development. Yoder holds more than 35 years' experience in software development and engineering management. He also has experience in computer networking, security, and operating systems, as well as game and Web technologies. In fact, Yoder initiated the well-known Norton AntiVirus product when he worked at Peter Norton Computing. He also previously held key positions with EarthLink and Cyber Defender. New Attorney Joins Davidson Fink's Default Servicing Department Davidson Fink added Kurt Odenbach as associate attorney for its default servicing department, where he focuses on real estate, foreclosure, and loss mitigation. Odenbach has experience in the commercial real estate sector. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law and pursued his MBA and bachelor's degree at Ithaca College. Sabal Hires Senior Credit Executive to Oversee Operations Sabal Financial Group appointed Patrick Crandall to oversee all operations for the firm as senior credit executive. Crandall is tasked with ensuring integrity of credit standards, policies, and procedures for Sabal's commercial and residential real estate lending operations. He previously served as senior managing director at Cushman & Wakefield. CONTINUED ON PAGE 44 VISIT US ONLINE @ DSNEWS.COM CUSTOMERS REPORT GREATER SATISFACTION WITH SERVICERS The mortgage servicing industry's efforts to adhere to nationwide reforms haven't gone unnoticed by consumers, according to J.D. Power's 2013 U.S. Primary Mortgage Servicer Satisfaction Study. The study measures customer satisfaction across four facets of the mortgage servicing experience: the billing and payment process, escrow account information, the servicer's website, and phone contact. According to J.D. Power, overall satisfaction with servicers has increased to 733 (on a 1,000-point scale) from last year's value of 725. The market research firm attributes the increase to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) release of origination and servicing guidelines, most of which are scheduled to go into effect January 2014. Under the rules, servicers are required to have systems, policies, and procedures in place to ensure customers receive appropriate information and support. "This study helps gauge the effectiveness of firms' servicing capabilities from the customer's perspective," said Craig Martin, director of investment services at J.D. Power. "The fact that satisfaction continues to increase seems to indicate that changes being made in response to these new regulations are having a positive impact on the experience of customers." Another influential factor has been last year's National Mortgage Settlement, which has required the largest servicers— Bank of America, CitiMortgage, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Ally—to make sure staff is CONTINUED ON PAGE 44 43
