IN THE NEWS Oklahoma County Launches New E-Recording Technology E-Recording in Comanche County is now available through Simplifile, enabling the county to receive and process land documents submitted for recording more quickly and efficiently. According to Carrie Tubbs, Comanche County clerk and recorder, the county decided to start e-Recording "to serve the taxpayers in a more efficient manner by allowing a minimized time recording of documents through the innovative technology development of Simplifile." With the option to e-Record, title companies, banks, law offices, lien filers, and other organizations that file land records with the county will be able to do so directly from their office via the Internet. "Title companies will no longer need to use the mail or courier service to have their documents recorded," said Paul Clifford, 90 president of Simplifile. The service is very simple, Simplifile explained. Customers need only a scanner and high-speed Internet access to upload their documents and send them over to the county clerk's office. "With the mail or courier service, it can take several days for documents to be stamped and recorded by the county; whereas, with Simplifile it usually takes less than an hour if not a few minutes to be returned back to the submitter as recorded," Clifford said. Simplifile says e-Recording counties throughout the country have also found that the service has helped to reduce paper waste, payment errors, and the number of rejected documents. Comanche, the fourth-largest Oklahoma county by population, joins 35 other counties in the state that have adopted Simplifile's e-Recording service. Radian's Claims Agreement with Freddie Mac Lowers Delinquencies Radian Guaranty, Inc., the mortgage insurance subsidiary of Radian Group, Inc., entered into a master transaction agreement with Freddie Mac that the company says eliminates its claim exposure on 9,756 delinquent mortgage loans and 4,586 reperforming loans. The agreement involves 25,760 first-lien mortgages held by Freddie Mac that were insured by Philadelphia-based Radian Guaranty and were delinquent as of December 31, 2011. The agreement provides for the future treatment of these loans— including claim payments, loss mitigation activity, and insurance coverage—and caps Radian Guaranty's total exposure on this group of loans, including loans that are currently re-performing, at $840 million.
