COMPANY HISTORY: John H. Yamamoto, BCE, MBA, established PEMCO Limited in 1984 with an engineering background. When the company started, it serviced construction development projects totaling over $400 million and performed more than 300 engineering studies and forensic investigations. In 1990, PEMCO expanded its services to include facilities maintenance at military installations, U.S. base operations support services, and environmental engineering. In addition to servicing numerous private clients, the company was awarded and successfully completed a number of multi-year contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense. Yamamoto's vision for the company led him to obtain his own real estate license in Hawaii. In 1996, PEMCO was awarded its first HUD contract for property maintenance and management as a Real Estate Asset Manager (REAM). By 2006, PEMCO opened offices in Atlanta and Sacramento and expanded its scope of services to administer "cradle to grave" asset management for HUD's second-generation contracting program. After winning a third-generation contract from HUD in 2010, the company launched PEMCO Realty with a focus on private investors, lending institutions, and commercial real estate.
