14 THE APP SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY FOR DEFAULT SERVICING PROFESSIONALS ON-THE-GO iStratus DayPlanner In the event that you miss a handwritten daily planner: Stratus DayPlanner tries to evoke the feel and utility of sensibly combining to-do lists, a place to store receipts, contact information, documents, flight information, shopping lists, birthdays, and voice memos all in one. e user interface is designed with touchscreens in mind, and a "remote control" layout puts all possible functions a single tap away on tablets and only a swipe or two away on phones. is app is an incredible utility for anyone with a busy schedule. [ free, iOS] Vert When surveying a house, making sure you have the correct measurements is key, but the tools and the metrics called for by documentation don't always match up. at's where Vert comes in: an app designed to convert from anything to anything else. Currency, distances, volumes, even such things as frequencies and units of illumination are accounted for by Vert, and the app's display is a snap to use. Put in your original unit, then simply scroll through the different conversion results all in a row. is app has made it onto countless "best of " lists for its extreme speed with conversions and graceful interface. Are the schools close enough, or will the children face an hour-long bus ride? e Homefacts app, produced by RealtyTrac, collects data about entire cities and places them in a bird's-eye map format with filters to show only those locations you want. ough the map is currently in beta, the database already contains thousands of hospitals, schools, grocery stores, and sources of pollution so you can find or avoid the areas you want. [ free, iOS] Mint Mint allows users to add savings and expense accounts, which are then accessed by Mint to generate budget allowances and let users label transactions with custom names so that you don't forget which merchants are which when bank statements are confusing. Unfortunately, the utility of this app isn't immediately apparent, as it requires transactions to be made after downloading for it to begin tracking a user's money, but its ability to create monthly budgets is invaluable. [ free, android, iOS] NavFree Smartphone GPS systems can sometimes flub it. Whether a tall nearby building scrambles the signal, a tunnel blocks it, or you're wandering far from the data network of your carrier, GPSs systems sometimes fail when we need them the most. Enter NavFree, an app that downloads the map data for a predetermined route and presents it GPS-style even when the GPS signal drops, which is something not even Google's routing app can do. For anyone ever burned by a loss of signal at the wrong highway exit, here's an app to ensure that never happens again. [ free, Android, iOS]
