As part of the deal with SunTrust, the bank has forgiven $2.8 million in first liens and approximately $2 million in first and second liens to facilitate short-sale transactions for impacted homeowners. e $2 million payout will provide cash to North Carolina consumers who lost their homes and who alleged misconduct on the part of SunTrust for either unauthorized foreclosures or violations of servicing and foreclosure practices. e North Carolina settlement is part of a much larger $550 million deal that SunTrust struck with 49 states, the District of Columbia and federal authorities. e deal was made after allegations from attorneys generals surfaced, claiming the bank violated foreclosure, servicing or loan modi- fication practices, harming borrowers who were already in distress and who may have had other relief options available at the time. "is is welcome relief for North Caro- lina families who suffered foreclosures done wrong," said AG Roy Cooper. "rough these agreements we're holding banks accountable for past problems and preventing future ones." Cooper's office says the AG's settlement with SunTrust is based on the National Mort- gage Settlement negotiated back in 2012 with the country's largest mortgage servicers—Ally/ GMAC, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Citi and Wells Fargo. Cooper previously negotiated a $26-mil- lion settlement with Ocwen Financial as part of a larger $2.1 billion deal covering national mortgage servicing issues. OKLAHOMA ValuAmerica Integrates with AMC Software Platform Mercury Network Pittsburgh-based national title agency, appraisal management company (AMC), and technology provider ValuAmerica and Oklahoma City-based AMC software plat- form Mercury Network have announced that ValuAmerica is now integrated into Mercury Network's vendor management platform. e integration will allow lenders and AMCs who use the Mercury Network platform to place appraisal orders with ValuAmerica and streamlines communications by automatically passing order statuses and documents back and forth without the lenders having to modify their workflow. With the new integrated system, Mercury Network will route orders to ValuAmerica based on each lender's unique assignment and compliance requirements, and a complete audit trail of the assignment is captured by the integrated system. "Our partnership with Mercury Net- work will help streamline appraisal ordering, management and payment. And it eliminates duplicative data entry on multiple systems, which can create errors," said Shawn Murphy, EVP of ValuAmerica. "Lenders utilizing Mercury Network will see efficiency gains in their appraisal management process." Mercury Network is used by more than 700 lenders and AMCs to manage compliant and efficient appraisal operations, according to the announcement. "Lenders use Mercury Network to place orders with their AMCs for compliance with banking regulations from CFPB, OCC, FDIC, and they rely on us to develop the technology that connects them to all their preferred AMCs," stated Jennifer Miller, president of Mercury Network. "We're proud to welcome ValuAmerica to the roster of AMCs connected to Mercury. TEXAS Xome CEO Kal Raman Resigns Kal Raman has resigned his position as President and CEO of Xome Holdings, LLC, and its subsidiaries, according to an 8K filing by Xome's parent company, Nationstar Mortgage Holdings, with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Xome and its subsidiaries are wholly- owned subsidiaries of Lewisville, Texas-based Nationstar Mortgage Holdings. Raman originally joined Nationstar Mortgage as the CEO of another one of its subsidiaries, Solu- tionstar, in November 2014. In June 2015 when Nationstar launched Xome, an end-to-end real estate platform meant to simplify the home buying and selling process, Raman was named CEO of Xome. According to the SEC filing, Raman will as part of the separation agreement a cash severance payment of $600,000 spread out over 52 weeks beginning 30 days after the date the resignation became effective, which was November 23. Before joining Nationstar Mortgage, Raman spent more than two decades as a leading technology executive. He served as COO for Groupon in addition to serving as CEO of the company's Asia Pacific region. His other past positions include VP of Global Fulfillment at eBay, CEO of GlobalScholar, a leader in enterprise software for public schools; SVP at Amazon in charge of the company's retail technology and marketing units; CEO of drugstore.com; and multiple management positions with Wal-Mart. In the third quarter this year, Nationstar reported adjusted earnings of $32 million and a quarterly net loss (for GAAP purposes) of $66 million. Nationstar reported a quarterly net income of $75 million in Q2, which fol- lowed a quarterly net loss of $48 million in Q1. e Xome segment of Nationstar's business performed well in the third quarter, however, selling more than 4,900 properties and ended the quarter with about 8,000 in its inventory, increasing third-party revenues to 34 percent, and continuing to diversify its revenue streams and client base, according to Nationstar.
