Get to know the experts and insiders behind this issue. contributors KEITH BUTTON is a publications editor for Ernst & Young in New York and a freelance writer. As a reporter for Hedge Fund Alert, he broke the story on the Bear Stearns hedge fund meltdown in June 2007 that kicked off the credit crisis. In addition to reporting on the hedge fund sector, he writes for publications covering bank technology, mutual fund boards, broker-dealers, chief financial officers, military intelligence technology, and agriculture. He also served as a reporter for the Watertown Daily Times in northern New York for 10 years and researched and wrote white papers for various industries. ED DELGADO is COO for Wingspan Portfolio Advisors, a diversified mortgage servicing company that provides a wide range of strategic services to assist the mortgage industry. He also currently serves as chairman of the National Servicing Association (NSA), a nonprofit trade group representing mortgage banks in the United States. He has more than 20 years' experience in mortgage banking and is widely recognized as a thought leader and innovator in the industry. He was formerly CEO of the Five Star Institute, an SVP at Wells Fargo, and an executive with Freddie Mac. JULIA GORDON is director of housing finance and policy at the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Her team works on a variety of fronts, including the future of housing finance; housing market recovery; access to affordable and sustainable credit; foreclosure prevention; and availability of affordable, safe, and energy- efficient rental housing. Previously, she managed the single-family policy team at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, overseeing changes to GSE selling and servicing policies, and was senior policy counsel at the Center for Responsible Lending, where she focused on predatory lending and foreclosure prevention. BILL IRELAND writes on housing-related issues for various publications. He is also senior editor at PartnerFirst, a nationwide short sale network based in Corona, California. In that capacity, he writes and edits educational material for real estate agents; provides industry updates on current issues, programs, and policies; and regularly contributes to the group's blog on the short sale market. In his work, he draws on more than 10 years' experience as a real estate professional and a broad background in various writing genres that includes feature articles, monthly real estate columns, humor columns, and ghostwriting. MARGARET KELLY is CEO of RE/MAX and a member of the global franchisor's board of managers. Many know her from RE/MAX's television commercials as someone who talks candidly about real estate and has a passion for helping both consumers and agents navigate today's marketplace. She joined the RE/MAX network in 1987 as a financial analyst, and quickly worked her way up; she was named VP in 1992, SVP in 1997, president in 2002, and CEO in 2005. She is now responsible for all aspects of RE/MAX operations across North America and in more than 85 countries around the world. MARK LIEBERMAN, economist for the Five Star Institute, parent company of DS News, lends his analysis and observations to the many financial and industry reports crossing the news desk. He is also managing director and senior editor for Economics Analytics Research. He previously worked as an analyst for Fox Business, was VP and manager of analysis and research for Washington Mutual Bank, and managed the foreclosure department at Dime Savings Bank of New York. INGO WINZER is president of Local Market Monitor, a Cary, North Carolina-based firm that he founded in 1990 as a real estate forecasting solution provider.
