With a 24-hour news cycle and just about everything
available from our smartphones, it's no wonder that our
focus shifts constantly throughout the day. As a leader, I
find myself being pulled in a variety of directions—each of
them as important as the other. But as I've grown in my
career, I've found my success lies in an ability to maintain
focus when presented with challenging situations.
Multitasking is an enviable skill, no doubt, but an ability
to focus on the problem at hand and seeing it through
to resolution is critical. Keeping a clear solution in
mind and driving toward it through all the noise and
competing priorities has kept me on target. It also
makes me a stronger leader, as I'm able to provide clear
direction and guidance to my team, which leads to our
collective success.
