TEXAS ServiceLink and Roostify Announce Partnership ServiceLink, headquartered in Texas, announced a partnership with Roostify, a provider of automated lending technology, in an effort to promote moving the mort- gage industry further into the digital space. ServiceLink's processes will now be in direct connection with Roostify's processes, provid- ing lenders, consumers, and all mortgage participants collaboration through the entire mortgage-origination process, with the goal to reduce costs and increase efficiency. "ServiceLink's partnership with Roostify will improve the overall consumer- and lender- mortgage experience through enhanced tech- nology and truly change the way settlement services are ordered and managed," said Chris Azur, CEO of ServiceLink. "By streamlining and connecting the steps in the mortgage loan process, lenders will see reduced time to close, a reduction in process time, better pull-through rates, and high consumer satisfaction." e Roostify platform is used by lenders across the United States to allow consumers to apply for a mortgage, submit documenta- tion, and follow his/her loan's progress online. While Roostify provides automation tools for origination workflows related to documenta- tion, verification, and communication, until now, tasks such as scheduling an appraisal, applying for a title policy, and scheduling a closing were still largely manual. Now, ServiceLink's technologies, such as ClosingShield and EXOS, will extend the digital experience for Roostify consumers and lenders, expanding efficiencies and benefits throughout the transaction, while providing immediate feedback on loan complexity and an estimated time to close. is will vastly improve the consumer experience, while also improving the rate-lock scenario evaluation for lenders. "We are excited to partner with Roostify to change how consumers engage throughout the mortgage-origination process," said Dan Sogorka, EVP of Sales and Strategy for Ser- viceLink. "is is the beginning of a number of massive changes that will put the consumer first, simplify and streamline manual processes for the lender, and ultimately redefine the mortgage experience." "Consumers are continually frustrated with the mortgage process when time is wasted on each small task that can be easily automated for increased efficiency," said Rajesh Bhat, CEO and co-founder of Roostify. "Our partnership with ServiceLink brings added efficiency to our platform, allowing lenders to provide a shorter timeline to closing for their customers, along with a better overall experience during what is already a stressful time." FLORIDA Secretary Carson: HUD Aiding South Floridians On October 7, the Miami Herald published an op-ed by Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson that highlighted the work HUD has done to help families recover from Hurricane Irma. According to HUD, hundreds of men and women are working to ensure safe, affordable housing for those affected by the disaster. Prior to Irma's impact, many HUD employees volunteered to go to Florida to serve immediately as a partner to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and assist individuals and families in need of resources, according to the article. Secretary Carson said he visited Florida to monitor HUD's progress, talk with residents, and ensure HUD provides everything it can to support the rebuilding effort. As part of the response, recovery, and rebuilding efforts, HUD's primary job is to "use the best data available to ensure disaster recovery funding is targeted to the hardest-hit areas." "We will put our knowledge, experience, and expertise to work in coordination with state and local authorities," Secretary Carson said. "In the months and years ahead, HUD will play a central role in Florida's integrated efforts to rebuild lives and communities." In addition, Secretary Carson said he is in touch with Gov. Rick Scott and his staff, as HUD is helping to locate vacancies to move vulnerable residents into safer housing. "We are working closely with FEMA and shelters around the state to ensure they have the resources they need to serve displaced Flo- ridians, and ultimately help these families find longer-term housing," Secretary Carson said. Secretary Carson continued to explain that HUD is also providing special mortgage relief through the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). HUD has already granted a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures for FHA-insured properties in disaster-affected areas. "We offer loan forbearance and loan modifications for borrowers struggling to make payments in disaster-affected areas," he added. Specific mortgage products for those im- pacted by disasters—some homeowners whose properties were destroyed or damaged may be eligible for 100 percent financing through HUD's Section 203(h) program. According to Secretary Carson, this will enable them to rebuild or buy another home. In addition, homeowners can use Section 203(k) FHA insurance to refinance an existing mortgage into a new mortgage that covers the cost of repairs.
