27 ยป VISIT US ONLINE @ DSNEWS.COM LEGAL PHH NAMES FLANAGAN SVP AND GENERAL COUNSEL PHH Corporation (PHH) announced that Madeline Flanagan will succeed William Brown as SVP and General Counsel of PHH Corporation, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Flanagan has served as SVP and General Counsel of PHH Mortgage, the company's mortgage subsidiary, since 2012. Prior to joining PHH, Flanagan held legal roles at CoreStates Financial Corporation (now part of Wells Fargo) and Philadelphia Savings Fund Society. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, Camden. PHH also announced that Ryan Melcher, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of PHH Corporation, will assume the role of Corporate Secretary currently held by Brown. Melcher, who is currently responsible for all legal matters with respect to Finance and Capital Markets, will assume the role of VP, Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary effective Jan. 1, 2018 and will report to Flanagan. VENABLE LLP CELEBRATES NEW PARTNER Venable LLP, an American Lawyer Global 100 law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., that serves as primary counsel to a worldwide clientele of large and mid-sized organizations, nonprofits, and high-net-worth entrepreneurs and individuals, announced that Gerald S. Sachs has joined the firm as partner in the Washington, D.C. office in the Government Division, where he will assist consumer financial services companies with compliance, law enforcement investigations, and litigation. Previously, Sachs served in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Enforcement Office as Senior Counsel for policy and strategy, and was an Attorney at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS DAVID STEVENS ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AFTER 6 YEARS HELMING THE MBA President and CEO of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) David H. Stevens has set his retirement date for Sept. 30, 2018. Stevens will continue to lead the MBA until that time as a diverse and recently formed MBA Member Search Committee identifies new candidates for the role. "With my cancer in remission, focusing on family, friends and staying healthy is my priority," Stevens said in a statement. "is was a difficult decision; it's hard to walk away from supporting an industry that shaped my career. It's been an honor to work with the talented staff, strong leadership, and diverse membership of the MBA." Immediate past MBA Chairman Rodrigo Lopez is currently head of the search committee, which contains 12 volunteer MBA members. NAR INTRODUCES NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM Elizabeth Mendenhall, a sixth-generation Realtor from Columbia, Missouri, recently assumed the role as 2018 President of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Mendenhall was NAR's 2017 president-elect and 2016 First VP. She has been a Realtor for 20 years and is CEO of RE/MAX Boone Realty. John Smaby is 2018 NAR president- elect. Smaby is a second-generation Realtor and has been in the industry for 38 years. He is a broker at Edina Realty in Edina, Minnesota, where he specializes in residential real estate. Vince Malta is 2018 First VP. He is a third-generation Realtor and CEO and broker of Malta & Co. Inc. in San Francisco. omas Riley, a Realtor from Bedford, New Hampshire, is the 2018 treasurer.
