WHICH COMES FIRST, THE MORTGAGE OR THE HOME?
In San Francisco, it's the mortgage for the most part. Stellar
credit and a pre-approved mortgage are two factors that can
help homebuyers land their dream home. A January 2018
study by LendingTree used this criteria to rank the largest
American cities on the basis of how competitive they were.
LendingTree looked at 1.5 million purchase mortgage loan
requests and then ranked each city based on the share of
buyers shopping for a mortgage before identifying the house
they want and the percentage of buyers who have prime
credit above 680.
Here's how the stats break down for the 20 American cities
with the most competitive homebuyers.
