The reduced time, effort, and cost savings will truly benefit all parties involved." Based in Irvine, California, Veri-Tax provides a full array of tax verification services. California Homeowner Bill of Rights in Effect January 1 marked the official start date for the landmark California Homeowner Bill of Rights bill. The six-part bill extends foreclosure protections to California homeowners through laws restricting the practice of dualtracking and by guaranteeing homeowners a single point of contact from their servicer. Tenants residing in foreclosed homes are also provided with protections and are given at least 90 days before getting evicted. Another component of the bill gives the attorney general's office the authority to use statewide grand juries to investigate and indict individuals who are part of financial crimes involving victims in multiple counties. Other provisions from the bill include additional tools for local governments to prevent blight and the extension of the statute of limitations to prosecute mortgage-related crimes from one year to three years. "For too long, struggling homeowners in California have been denied fairness and transparency when dealing with their lending institutions," said California Attorney General Kamala Harris. "These laws give homeowners new rights as they work through the foreclosure process and will give Californians a fair opportunity to stay in their homes." The final parts of the six-part bill were signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown in September 2012. According to ForeclosureRadar, the specific provision banning dual-tracking has already impacted the state through an increase in foreclosure cancellations, which spiked 62.1 percent from September to October. RES.NET Platform Evolves to Serve Traditional Real Estate, Releases Tool to Manage Offers RES.NET is expanding beyond the world of defaults and into the realm of traditional real estate, the company announced. Originally introduced in 2004 as a technology solution for the default space, the California-based firm has evolved its platform to enhance retail (or traditional) real estate transactions. In a release, RES.NET said its goal is to enable agents to perform tasks to improve communications to "better meet the demands of today's tech-savvy consumers while gaining the accessibility and accountability to operate more productively and improve their businesses." One of the RES.NET platform's cloudbased portals, the Agent Portal, connects agents to other real estate professionals, buyers, and sellers and allows them to handle every aspect of a sale through a single centralized system or while on-the-go through a mobile application. Agents can define their task workflow, input details on their properties (including photos and videos), and send and sign documents using e-signature technology. The portal also allows agents to access RES.NET's offer submission link tool, enabling them to submit offers to listing agents directly through the platform instead of mailing or faxing paper documents. The system gives agents more control to manage offers, negotiations, and counteroffers, resulting in faster closings. Todd Mobraten, COO and president of RES.NET, said the company's expansion into the traditional market is a response to the growth of its network (which now includes more than 200,000 users) and the continued evolution of real estate. RES.NET also recently introduced an offer submission link tool for real estate agents. Through the new tool, agents who use RES.NET's Agent Portal can post web links to the MLS and other marketing websites. A buyer's agent can submit offers to listing agents directly through the RES.NET platform for traditional, REO, and short sale transactions instead of mailing or faxing documents.
