2 e spend a lot of time evaluating and critiquing housing policy. It's part of the job and a responsibility that we take seriously. But the blessing and the curse of the print medium is that there is no back and forth. e feedback we've been getting from you (and rightly so) is that it's easy for us to sit here in our ivory tower and criticize a move by the administration or the regulators because they can't respond. is month, we decided to change that. In this month's cover story, Mark McArdle, Chief Homeownership Preservation Officer at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, will give his department's evaluation of the Making Home Affordable Program and the lessons to be learned from the housing crisis moving forward. Some claim the program hasn't provided sufficient help to as many homeowners that need it or that it hasn't provided help quickly enough. Some criticize MHA for not being tougher on mortgage servicers. It's McArdle's contention that, while the program has its critics, the changes made the industry stronger and better equipped to combat crisis in the future. In his piece Ginnie Mae: Transforming the Evolving Marketplace, Ginnie Mae President Ted Tozer lays out his vision for their future. In it, he chronicles the changes in the secondary market and reaffirms their commitment to the American homeowner through the strengthening of its standards. To get a perspective from the legislative branch, we interviewed Congressman Randy Neugebauer on his views the state of the housing market and the recent moves by the Obama Administration to provide greater access to homeownership. Neugebauer, a conservative Republican, then gives his take on his party's ability to work with the administration in the new Congress. We want you to make your voice heard as well. Is there something going on in the market that you would like to see covered? Have an idea for a new type of feature? We're all ears, so drop us a line and let us know how we're doing.
